Internal Transfer (Change of Program)

If you are a current international student who wishes to change to a different program you will need to submit a new application via the International Application System.

If you are currently enrolled as an international student and will be completing your degree and wish to continue onto a second degree (e.g. Bachelor to Master), you will need to submit a new application via the International Application System.

If you are currently enrolled as an international student and wish to transfer to the same level program (e.g. from a Bachelor to a Bachelor or a Master to a Master), you will also need to submit a new application via the International Application System. You will need to answer some specific questions within the form. Important, please seek advice from Faculty Student Success and International Student Support prior to submitting an application as you’ll need to upload evidence of your discussions with Faculty Student Success with your application.

A new application is not required to transfer streams, majors and specialisations. Please seek advice from Faculty Student Success.

If you are planning to take a leave of absence but wish to change your program, before you finalise your leave of absence or drop your enrolments, please contact us at start@adelaide.edu.au.

Please note that applying for leave of studies or dropping your enrolments may affect your eligibility to apply for a change of program as an “internal transfer student” please seek advice prior to submitting your application. 

How to apply

International students completing a University of Adelaide degree and looking to begin a second degree.

Please refer to the International Student Applications page and follow the instructions for How to Apply and if ready to submit an application, refer to the Ready to Apply section.

Note: information under Current Student Transfers is for currently enrolled International Students that wish to transfer to the same level program (e.g. from a Bachelor to a Bachelor or a Master to a Master) and you will be redirected back to this website. You will need to review the ‘Ready to Apply’ section within the above link.

For students completing their current degrees, and applying for a new degree:
• You may be eligible for the University of Adelaide Alumni Scholarship (International).

For Change of Program within the same level (e.g. from Bachelor to Bachelor and from Master to Master), you will need to complete the following steps:

  • Seek advice from Faculty Student Success and International Student Support prior to submitting your change request and ensure this is the right change for you. You will need to supply evidence you have sought enrolment advice from these teams.

  • Start your application in the International Application System.

  • Within the application form, you’ll be asked the following questions under Previous Study at the University of Adelaide:
    •  Have you previously or are you currently studying at the University of Adelaide?
      •  Yes
    • If you have previously attended the University of Adelaide, please enter your student ID
      • Enter your Student ID
    • Have you commenced and are enrolled in your academic program at the University of Adelaide? 
      •  If you are currently enrolled and part-way through a term enrolment, answer ‘Yes’ 
    • Would you like to Change Program?
      •  Yes
  • Within the application form, you’ll be asked the following questions under Change of Program:

If you wish to change your preference, your overseas qualifications and English language proficiency will need to be reassessed for entry into your new choice of program.

To apply for a change of program, please login to the applicant portal and request a change of program. 

To apply for a transfer into any of the following degrees, a new application will be required.

Bachelor of Psychology (Advanced) (Honours)

Postgraduate programs

Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Adelaide Master of Business Administration
Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy
Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diplomas and Masters of Nursing Science (generic and specialisations)
Master of Clinical Nursing
Master of Psychology (Clinical)
Master of Psychology (Health)
Master of Psychology (Organisational and Human Factors)
Master of Teaching (Middle and Secondary)

At this time there is a requirement for students in these programs to attend in person. As such, any internal transfer offer will made on the provision you will be able to be onshore in Adelaide, and attending face-to-face classes at the university on the first day of classes. Should this change, updates will be posted. 

  • Bachelor of Economics (Advanced)
  • Bachelor of Economics (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Music Theatre
  • Many programs under the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences require onshore attendance, and/or may be quota based programs and thus require applications via SATAC only. Please contact the Faculty for more information.
  • There may be programs not listed which require students to be onshore. If the programs you are applying for are not listed here, please contact International Admissions Services at start@adelaide.edu.au for more updates.

If you are currently enrolled in (or completing) a PEP, please use the PEP Change of Program form . For further information please contact the English Language Centre.

Students who wish to change their Award Program must contact the English Language Centre (ELC) or email elc@adelaide.edu.au within the deadline provided by the ELC.

Students currently enrolled in pathway programs must contact their provider directly to request a change of program, either for their pathway studies or their bachelor degree award program.

If you are currently enrolled in a Pre-Master’s program with the University of Adelaide College, and wish to change your program, please contact the College Student Services at collegeservices@adelaide.edu.au in the first instance.
 
If the Pre-Master’s program you are enrolled in is not a pathway into the program you want to transfer into, you may contact us at start@adelaide.edu.au.

Recipients of this scholarship must contact Niranjala Seimon at niranjala.seimon@adelaide.edu.au.

Supporting documents and approval to transfer your scholarship into the new program is required.

If you have lodged an internal transfer application and have now changes your mind and no longer with to change programs, please login to the Applicant Portal and advise that you wish to withdraw your application.
